Hi, I’m Margaux. I write the true version.
Eleven years, a few hundred launches, zero uses of the word “synergy.” Here’s how I think, who I’m for, and what it’s like to work with me.
I started in a New York agency writing taglines I wasn’t allowed to sign. Eleven years and a few hundred launches later, I work for myself — which mostly means I get to argue with founders about adjectives and win. I write the way good salespeople talk: like a human who actually understands what you sell and respects the person reading. No jargon, no “synergy,” no copy that needs a translator. Just the clearest, sharpest version of true.
What I actually do
I’m a conversion copywriter, which is a fancy way of saying I write the words that get people to do the thing — buy, sign up, read on, reply. But I do it the slow way: research first, strategy second, pretty sentences last. The sentences are the easy part. Knowing what to say is the job.
Who I’m for (and who I’m not)
I do my best work for DTC and SaaS brands that have something genuinely good and are tired of describing it like everyone else. Founders. Lean marketing teams. People who want a strategic writer, not a pair of hands.
I’m a bad fit for “just make it pop,” copy-by-committee, and anyone who wants their homepage to say “innovative solutions.” I’ll push back. That’s what you’re paying for.
The boring-but-important bits
I’m remote, based in Brooklyn, NY, working across the US, UK & EU. I price by project, not by the hour. Two rounds of revisions are built in. You own the copy on delivery, and I’ll happily sign an NDA. I reply to emails like a person.
Four things I believe about words.
Every voice guide I write starts with do/don’t pairs like these. Here are mine.
A line nobody understands isn’t witty. It’s a riddle.
Specificity is the cheapest credibility you can buy.
The best copy is usually a customer quote you didn’t know you had.
You don’t have to shout when you actually know the thing.
“Good copy is just clear thinking made contagious.”— the only thing on my office wall
